Piano Lessons for Adults

Piano lessons aren’t just for kids! In fact, my focus these days is on working with adults and/or advanced students. I have had long enjoyed the privilege of working with adults who are either returning to the piano after some years away, or are complete beginners. Not only is it rewarding, since it gives me an opportunity to teach in different ways, I find it inspiring.

When playing the piano shifted into something I did professionally, I noticed that I played simply for the joy of it less and less. Working with adults who are playing the piano as a hobby reminds me to love playing for the sake of playing.

I know only too well how tough our calendars can get, so I tend to be a bit more flexible with adult students regarding scheduling. I do not require a weekly commitment like I do with children however with that said, it is my recommendation that lessons be at least bi-weekly. This should not be a barrier to (re)starting lessons though, so don’t hesitate to reach out; we’ll figure it out! Additionally, while I do not think virtual lessons are very effective for children, they can be useful option for adult students and I’m happy to offer lessons over Zoom or Facetime.

Parent and Prodigy Program

A fabulous opportunity for all involved are joint lessons for parents and their children. Learning to play the piano is hard and if a child’s parent does not have musical training themselves, it can be hard for them to help with home practice. If the parent is also taking lessons, the child goes home with their very own practice coach that can answer questions and help them practice. (Of course, always feel free to contact me with questions during the week.)
